Bekah Mathiesen, MA
Bekah was raised in the Midwest and found herself as an Alaskan transplant in 2011. She lived for almost 10 years in the small, upper-Susitna village of Talkeetna working as an art teacher, jet boat captain and non-profit community volunteer. Bekah strives to maintain deep connection to the resilient, dynamic Alaskan landscape and continues to draw inspiration from its inhabitants.
Bekah received her MA in Art Therapy & Counseling at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This holistic, conscious-centered educational experience set the groundwork for Bekah’s person-centered therapeutic approach. She believes in art as a change agent that activates healing self-empowerment and personal transformation. In addition to her specialization in art therapy, Bekah has additional certificates and trainings in Ecotherapy, Children’s Mental Health, School Counseling and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
